Creating a Successful Week!

Like many people, I'm not a fan of Mondays but I try to set the tone for a positive and productive week by getting a head start on Sundays. Over time, especially since becoming a mom of two, I’ve created habits that help me make the most of my last day off from work while still resting and relaxing. This is how I do it...

Start of Slow

My family and I almost always have something to do on Saturdays so I try to sleep in on Sundays, even if it's just an extra 15 minutes. When you're a mom, even that much makes a difference. While I strive for a productive Sunday, it’s the most easy going day of the weekend for me because there’s no rush to get things done. I take my time with everything I need to do and focus on the things that I want to do.

Weekly To-Do list

I've always been a list lover. I have one for just about everything. Family, Groceries, Household, and both the Dimelo Mami blog and YouTube channel to name a few. Sundays make a great day to create a vision for the goals I want to accomplish throughout the week and breakdown the big picture into smaller tasks.

Schedule

Once I've completed my To-Do list it's time to schedule it into my calendar. Whether it's on my phone, planner, or the Cinch I choose what goes where depending on what the task is. Rather than looking at a never-ending list everything is grouped into categories. Scheduling tasks help prevent me from feeling overwhelmed and it breaks down each goal into a series of stepping stones which makes accomplishing a goal much easier.

Meal Prep

When I block off one to two hours in the kitchen on Sundays I know that the week ahead is going to be so much smoother when it comes to cooking. I've found that even prepping just the ingredients to my meals rather than the meals themselves is a time saving hack. I create a weekly menu for the week based off what I already have and just add on any items to my grocery list that I need to complete the meal or restock in general.

Plan your Outfits

I've always been one to plan my outfits (not for the fashion but to avoid standing in front of my closet staring at my clothes for hours trying to figure out what to wear), sometimes for the week or just the night before but whether it's one or the other it's always helpful to have one less thing to worry about in the morning. I do the same whenever we have somewhere to be on the weekends. You can never be too sure of how mornings will play out when you have kids so staying one step ahead with even the smallest tasks makes me feel like it's going to be a smooth day.

Rest and Relax

No Sunday is just like the one before but regardless of what’s going on I make sure to take my time with the things I have to get done and do more of the things that I actually enjoy. I like to wrap up the night with a self-care session. These are the nights I like to apply a natural hair treatment, give myself a mani and pedi, and treat myself to a face mask while reading or catching up on a TV show.

What does you Sunday look like?
